Trinidadian cocoa bean samples ranked among world’s top 50

Cocoa bean samples from three local farms have been ranked within the world’s top 50 at the 2021 edition of the international Cocoa of Excellence Programme.

In an update, the Cocoa Development Company of Trinidad and Tobago said Annette Mills, Winthrop Harewood and farmers of the Four Roads Taman Cluster were all commended for their beans, which were judged amonst the world’s top 50 beans for exceptional flavour. 

The company said their cocoa bean samples were chosen from amongst 235 global samples. These world-ranked samples were part of the five winning samples of the 2021 National Cocoa Awards, which were submitted to represent Trinidad and Tobago at the global competition.

The company said these three samples will now vie for International Cocoa Awards at the Salon du Chocolat, Paris, France, in October of this year.
